Milo Yiannopoulos, Kanye West’s former chief of staff, claimed his estranged husband threatened to call immigration authorities to have him deported—less than a year before he was taken into custody by ICE and sent back to the UK.

According to court documents filed in October 2025, Milo claims his ex, John Campbell, “explicitly threatened” him with deportation from the country, calling him an “illegal immigrant” and saying he would call the “ICE hotline” on him. Milo says Campbell knew his green card status depended on their continued marriage. He also says Campbell refused to appear at appointments regarding his immigration status until his financial demands were met, which delayed Milo’s application process.
The alleged weaponization of immigration status wasn’t just a one-off threat. Milo says he had endured years of “extortion” from Campbell on these grounds, claiming he purchases sports cars and gave “huge cash gifts to him in an effort to save their marriage”. On the surface, this sounds like a standard ugly divorce—money, power, leverage. But for Milo, a British national who’d built his entire American career at Kanye’s side, it was existential.

Fast forward to August 27, 2026. The Department of Homeland Security said Yiannopoulos was arrested by ICE at Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport on August 27 after allegedly overstaying his visa. A federal judge issued Milo a final removal order on July 22, 2026, after Milo remained in the U.S. beyond his authorized stay. Federal officials said Milo legally entered the U.S. in 2019, but overstayed his authorized stay and was ultimately ordered to be deported after missing an immigration hearing in July. What Campbell threatened in a bitter divorce battle became reality within months.
Context matters here. Milo served as chief of staff at Ye’s Yeezy operation and was a key aide to the rapper for nearly two years before resigning in 2024. He later served as director of political operations for West’s 2024 presidential bid. That gig—working for one of hip-hop’s most controversial figures—kept Milo in the culture’s crosshairs and in America. But the far-right provocateur has been detained by ICE shortly after trumpeting support for ICE on social media. The optics are almost comedic: a guy who spent years defending stricter immigration enforcement got deported for the exact offense he championed cracking down on.
The marriage threatened it. Immigration law enforced it. By Friday, he was deported “back to his home country”. Kanye West’s former chief of staff surfaced on X Sunday, posting a screenshot of a KFC ad for a “Dirty Louisiana Burger” with the caption, “oh f*** off”—his only statement since landing back in the UK.
